Trailblazers are interesting creatures. Instead of seeking security, wealth, or power they are driven by curiosity, a desire for adventure, and a sort of rebellion against conventional concepts. They have a seventh sense for changing conditions, new developments, and premises and have no fear of experimentation, as dangerous as it may be at times. They do not explicitly decide to invent or create new dimensions. They do so instinctively.
This intuition is a talent that cannot be acquired, you either have it or you don´t.
hackedepicciotto is a duo in which both members have been trail blazers from the beginning. Alexander Hacke started experimenting with cassette loops at 14 in the early 80s, then joined the young band Einstürzende Neubauten to create music that would influence generations of musicians. Danielle de Picciotto, fascinated by early electronic dance-music, founded the Berlin Love Parade in 1989, was the singer of one of the first cross-over bands in Berlin, The Space Cowboys and then joined forces with Gudrun Gut to create a feminine version of electronic music far ahead of its time.
In 2001 Hacke and de Picciotto began collaborating, creating elaborate audio/visual multimedia performances in Berlin up to 2010, when they decided to become nomads by giving up their home and traveling the world, boldly defying gentrification and thereby becoming a modern, musical version of Bonnie and Clyde, racing from concert to concert, releasing albums at breakneck speed, until they were forced to lock down in a studio during the pandemic in 2020. This did not stop them from working, in fact they had released two more albums by the time they could start touring again and have released two more since. The artists coin their music Symphonic Drone, a mixture of industrial beats, electronic sounds with classical harmonies and melodies, adding a pinch of throat singing and spoken word. Daniel Miller of MUTE, who signed them in 2020, has been heard to say that their music is a genre of its own, something new and very intriguing.
