2ND GEN BIOGRAPHY 2026
2nd Gen is the industrial-noise project of Manchester-born, London-based artist Wajid Yaseen. The project emerged from London’s experimental noise scene with the Noise Sculptures EP released on Flo Records before NovaMute came calling: the Against Nature EP and And/Or EP, the debut album Irony Is, acclaimed across NME, Kerrang! and The Wire, and Musicians Are Morons EP followed, with second album Flicknives released on Quatermass Records. A former bassist with Fun-Da-Mental, Yaseen has remixed Depeche Mode, Hawkwind, Robert Miles and Venetian Snares, and as the electroacoustic trio Uniform, recorded with Alice Kemp and Yoshi Shinagawa, with releases on Planet Mu and Ad Noiseam. Collaborations include with Lydia Lunch, Alan Vega (Suicide), James Johnston (Gallon Drunk), Franko B, Terry Edwards (Tindersticks, Faust), Dälek, and more.
Now director of the sound arts organisation Modus Arts, with commissions spanning the ICA, Tate Modern and the Freud Museum, Yaseen brings 2nd Gen to Shadowlands with an album released on ant-zen – the project’s first new release in more than two decades.
